PIITB By JD- Mets Updates   We have some news this week! Nothing major, but David Stearns made a couple savy moves.    12/18: Acquired Yohan Ramirez from the White Sox for cash   Stats:  Ramirez pitched to a 4.23 ERA last year with a 107 era+. While that may not look pretty at face value, the Mets believe they may have found something to tweak. He has some elite Savant rankings and not some not-so-good ones. He has elite extension, GB%, Hard hit%, and barrel%. These stats point to an ability to get outs. The Mets have to limit his walks. He is a low risk piece that took nothing to get.   12/20: Mets acquired RHP Adrian Houser and CF Tyrone Taylor for RHP Coleman Crow   Coleman Crow: Crow (22) was acquired from the Angels for Eduardo Escobar at the trade deadline this season. Crow has some upside and had success this season in just 4 starts. He pitched to a 1.88 Era in 28 innings. His minor league career era is 4.33. While I did like Crow, this w...

Mets Updates- PIITB By JD   The Mets have made a flurry of moves (many minor league) the last couple weeks. None overly notable, but as we have been told this whole offseason, the direction it heads revolves around Yoshinobu Yamamoto.    In terms of major league signings, the Mets signed  Jorge Lopez  to a one year contract. Lopez was an All Star is 2022, pitching to a 2.53 era across 71 innings. He struggled mightily in 2023, pitching to a 5.95 era across 59 innings. Stearns is taking flyers on these types of players to fill out a team. Lopez will have to prove himself to earn innings on this team. He provides a lot of upside.    The Mets also signed,  Michael Tonkin  to a one-year 1 million dollar deal. Tonkin is another flyer. I am not quite sure what the Mets see in Tonkin. He pitched to a 4.28 era this year after not being in the league since 2017. His underlying metrics do not suggest improvement is coming either for the 34 year ...

Mets Updates for the week   Things have gotten started in Mets land with the first couple signings of the David Stearns era. In addition to that the Mets hired a head of business operations. Let’s discuss    New head of Business Operations: Scott Havens.   Scott Havens is now the former CEO of Bloomberg Media. He left his job to come be the Mets head of business operations. This is an incredible move by Steve Cohen. Scott brings experience and knowledge of how to grow a business. Steve is treating the Mets like a business and I am all for it.    His role: Scott’s role will entail everything that is not baseball-related. Including but not limited to legal operations and non-baseball finances. I am sure we will learn more about his role soon.   Now for the fun part.   Stearns signed Luis Severino to a 1 year 13 million dollar contract this week. I know the reaction on twitter been mostly negative, however, I believe this signing has low risk ...
