PIITB By JD- Weekly recap     Record: 3-2 (won series finale vs. Dodgers. 2-2 vs. Giants)   Dodgers series: (2-1)       The Mets took the series finale in LA, beating the Dodgers 5-3 behind a combination of Scherzer, Yacabonis, and the rest of the regulars. Scherzer was ejected from the game after the 3 rd  inning for “sticky stuff”. Phil Cuzzi has now ejected all 3 of the pitchers ejected for sticky stuff this year. Max washed his hands with alcohol upon request from the umpires in front of an MLB official and was still suspended and fined. MLB has essentially stated that he used too much rosin and sweat (both legal). This was a subjective decision and Max accepted his 10-game suspension.       Nimmo went 5-5 during the series finale with 2 RBIs and Canha also tacked on 2 RBIs. Good series win overall. Not onto San Francisco.   Giants series (2-2)       Senga struggled in game 1, going 5 innings...

PIITB By JD- Weekly Recap         1 vs. Padres. 3-game sweep of the Athletics. Took game one from the Dodgers. 5-0   The Mets have won 5 straight dating back to last Wednesday.   Series finale vs Padres                Nimmo, Pete, and Pham all had big days in the 5-2 victory over the Padres. Lindor added a home run of his own securing the Mets victory, Megill had a solid outing going 5 innings and only allowing 2 runs. He did walk 3 batters but faired well overall. The pen was lock-down as usual this season.    Athletics (3-0)    The Mets took care of business last week sweeping the Athletics. The Athletics pitching staff gave up 17 walks in the series' first game and the Mets scored 17. Senga had poor control in his start, walking 4 and giving up 4 runs over 4.2 innings. The Mets won 17-6. Game 2 and 3 were one run games. Carascco went 5 innings giving up 2 run...

PIITB By JD- Weekly Recap   Record this week: 3-2 (2-1 vs Marlins and 1-1 vs Padres)    Marlins Series: The Mets took care of business vs. Miami this past weekend. Going 2-1 and looking solid. Senga looked great once again. I got the chance to see him in person on Saturday and that Ghost Fork was on full display. He dominated the Marlins for the second time in a week. That is not easy to do. A guy with no Major league experience and facing a pesky lineup two times in a row. The advantage goes from the pitcher to the hitter after facing them before. After a shaky first, he settled right down. Sunday’s game was an obvious punt game for the Mets having used the pen on Saturday and Carrasco going Sunday. Carrasco was once again awful. He is washed up, that is all.    Padres Series: This Padres series has been fun to watch so far and very very stressful. Max looked solid yesterday. He went through 5, 1-hit innings but issued 3 walks causing his pitch co...

PIITB By JD- My reaction to the first week of games

PIITB By JD- My reaction to the first week of games   This first week of baseball has been a ton of fun. Most home runs hit at this point since 2019…. Are the balls juiced again? Honestly, I’m here for it. It makes perfect sense in the season where the league is testing all these new rules geared towards making the game more entertaining with an increased offense that juicing the balls would also be added into the mix. The league wants more offense for the fans and they are giving it to us.    As for the Mets. As it stands today, the Mets are about to drop their 2 nd  game in a row to the Brewers. They are now 3-3 to start the season. Taking 3 of 4 from the Marlins in Miami. My only takeaway from the Miami series is that Carlos Carrasco is no longer good enough to be in the rotation for a championship hopeful. His fastball was sitting 88-89 and the stuff was not very crisp either. You simply cannot throw 88 and be as successful as the Mets need Carlos to be....
